In recent years, Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) have garnered considerable attention, including in news headlines. Overplay of MMOGs is associated with increased aggression and social isolation among its users, and it can also lead to detrimental academic and occupational effects. A systematic review of MMOG effects analyzed the available evidence. It found that excessive video game play was associated with a variety of undesirable effects, including decreased social connections, increased aggression, and depression.
